PlanBørnefonden has signed a new strategic partnership agreement with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA) to continue development work and humanitarian efforts in fragile settings in West and East Africa.
Our Strategic Partnership 2022-2025 consists of eight country programmes implemented in countries which are highly vulnerable to climate change and have restricted civic space, not least in urban areas, where young activists have been subjected to severe harassment by police, while responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our programmes take place in fragile rural, urban and displacement settings, where children and young people, particularly girls and young women, are the most at risk.
Four of country programmes take place in fragile contexts (Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mali, and Zimbabwe), one country programme targets urban refugees and host communities (Uganda), and the remaining three country programmes are implemented in settings that are increasingly subject to the negative effects of climate change (Benin, Togo, and Kenya).
Outcomes:
- Young people have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to effectively influence governance processes, coordination and decision making.
- Children, adolescents, and young people have their critical needs met and realize their sexual and reproductive health and rights and are safe from violence.
- Young people are empowered through quality education and decent income opportunities
- Civil society has strengthened its leadership, legitimacy, diversity, space, influence, and collaboration.
