Planbørnefonden has received funding from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Danida) to respond to the acute needs of the most vulnerable Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and their host communities, who are affected by the complex humanitarian crisis in Tigray and Amhara, Ethiopia.
Over five million people are affected by widespread insecurity in the northern region of Ethiopia with an increased need for humanitarian assistance. This intervention aims to meet the immediate lifesaving humanitarian needs of IDPs and host communities, and strengthen their resilience through improved sustainable nutrition, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and protection services in four districts in the Tigray and Amhara regions of Ethiopia.
The intervention has a duration of 24 months, running from January 2022 to December 2023.
Impact:
The intervention is expected to reach 150,000 people in conflict-affected areas and will be coordinated in close cooperation with the UN and other NGOs in the region.
Outcomes:
- Crisis-affected and displaced girls and boys under five years of age and pregnant and nursing/lactating women that are suffering from Acute Malnutrition have increased food security and access to malnutrition services.
- Crisis-affected and internally displaced girls, boys, women, and men, including host communities, have improved access to healthcare and Sexual and Reproductive Health services.
- Crisis-affected children, adolescents, and youth are protected from gender-based violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and survivors have access to quality protection services and psychosocial support.
